International Foundation Course Content

What will you study?

A balanced curriculum of English and academic skills needed for university

You will develop into an advanced user of English who is able to communicate confidently in an academic setting. A large portion of the course is dedicated to improving your General and Academic English language skills. 

 

You will experience the teaching methods used at UK universities, such as lectures, seminars and tutorials. Develop your study skills and learn how to formulate your own ideas through group discussions and class presentations.

You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced academic staff who are specialists in English language teaching and English  for Academic Purposes (EAP), and subject experts also teaching at university level.

Qualification Structure

The course consists of 6 core units and a further 2 units must be taken from a choice of elective units. 

DEVELOPING ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS

Develop English language skills to be able to communicate effectively and confidently beyond simple everyday contexts through Intermediate (B1) and Upper Intermediate (B2) levels of English language study.

ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES

Develop the use of key linguistic skills  to engage effectively in an academic environment.

CULTURE STUDIES

Gain awareness and an increased understanding of other cultures with a focus on studying abroad.

FOUNDATION MATHEMATICS

Covers the basic foundations of Mathematics such as algebra, calculus & data graphs.

ELECTIVE 1

ADVANCED ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS

Put the language learnt into practice and develop into an advanced user of English.  Extend your knowledge of complex grammar and advanced vocabulary.

STUDY & COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Learn the essential study skills needed to succeed at university level to conduct independent research, write academic papers, give formal oral presentations

Blended online learning with Oxford campus experience after the first 3 months

We understand that travelling to the UK may not be an option in September, therefore we have moved the units studied in the first 3 months online.

Using our online platform, Blackboard Open LMS, you will have a chance to participate in live lessons with your tutors and have access to a wide range of interactive, engaging materials in your online learning account.

You only need an internet connection to access our fun and interactive yet professional online modules, where you will be able to interact with your classmates, submit your homework and receive the same high quality tuition delivered online.
